Compare sound files to find duplicates and similarities
Having a large collection of MP3 files also means you probably have dozens of duplicate files. Luckily you can now get rid of them all with Similarity.
Similarity is a simple utility that analyzes your music library and compares all the files included in it in terms not only of names and tags, but also of actual content thanks to a powerful search algorithm that's capable of analyzing and detecting sound coincidences in certain fragments.
Similarity works with the most popular sound formats and is very easy to use. Simply load up the folder where your music collection is stored and leave the program working in the background. You'll have to be patient because the program takes a long time to analyze music, especially if you have a large collection.
Once the analysis is done, Similarity will display a list with the results, where you can browse your music files and listen to them – using a third-party player, that is. You can also delete duplicate files right on the spot. Similarity helps you find duplicate music files by analyzing not only their tags, but also their actual sound content.

Locks up my system (Windows 7).
Not very intuitive.
Locks up Windows. Does okay on a few duplicates, but I had 100's, and it couldn't handle them. Pros: great algorithms to detect duplicates
Cons: locks up system (unusable)
poor customer service (never got back to me on my questions, I paid for the full version.)
could not delete duplicates. More
